I took my pup through this training  4 yrs ago.  Since I was going to be going back into snake country, Darel did not charge me for the refresher. My dog avoided the snake the first time through and validated his initial training 4 yrs previously.

Efficient and works well.  My 7 month old pup who is very curious responded immediately to the training.  My 10 year old who had the training a few years ago, avoided the snake in a refresher walk through. 

The instructor was very knowledgeable, and really explained the rattlesnake and dog behavior very well.  After completion of the training itself, I feel very confident that my dogs will not be going anywhere near a rattlesnake. 

While I had strong feelings about subjecting my little dog to a shock collar, I felt it was better for her than getting bit by a rattlesnake. Thank you for providing this very important life-saving service.

What a great opportunity to learn how to protect your dog. Darrel gives great information, clear directions & is very invested in your dog leaving training understanding that rattlesnakes are bad. I highly recommend it. My friend did a refresher while we took the class for the first time, and his dog, after 2 years, would go nowhere near that snake in a cage.

The trainers know what they are doing and used appropriate level of pressure on our two dogs; sufficient but not too much.

The class was extremely well planned. There were three e-collars available to keep participants cycling through, and everything went quickly. We learned so much about rattlesnakes in our area and I felt like all the dogs, no matter what size or temperament, were safe the entire time from the rattlesnake. Darel was clear with his instructions and I would recommend taking this class if you were to need it.

The training process was efficient and effective and well worth the investment for our young hunting dog (Vizsla). We spend considerable time in snake territory between hunting, hiking and mountain biking so the training was essential in avoiding a potential snake interaction.  Well done!

Brought our 3rd dog to do this training over last 10 years. Wenatchee valley is snake country, and I'm grateful they are local. The process is easy and smooth. All my dogs know that the smell of a rattler means danger/pain. Also, super entertaining chatting with all the dogs and their owners, it’s like a real life Best in Show.

I was very happy with the rattlesnake avoidance training class, unfortunately, it took Coho three times before she realized that the scent of the snake meant pain. We have encountered a few snakes so far since the training and she didn't want anything to do with them...

The story: There really was no danger of my dog, Corbin, getting bit.  It appeared to me that a raptor dropped his intened lunch of a baby rattlesnake onto our driveway. The snake was about 11" long and punctured and leaking. I checked it out. Yep. It was dead and immobile. So, since Corbin was on a short leash I let him sniff. When he got close enough, he yipped and jumped about 2 dog lengths sideways and 1 dog length high! He would not go near that snake again when we returned from our walk.

Our dog travels with us to snake country often during the summer, and we recently had an opportunity to see her successful rattlesnake recall and avoidance on full display. It has been one of the best gifts we could give to our friend, Tika.

​I’ve taken two of my dogs through this class with a one year refresher course. I will continue to take dogs through this course. The dogs definitely respond well to the training.

I have had both of my springer spaniel hunting dogs in your classes. This year my three and a half year old Sammy came to class for a recheck. Everyone was able to observe that Sammy remembered the smell of the snake and stayed away from it even though I tried once to coax her to get closer. Sammy went to your class at one year old and she is over three years old now so she is still trained after two years. I bird hunt in the early season when the snakes may be out so having the dogs trained is a real protection for them and peace of mind for me.

I was very impressed with how efficient a system Darrel and his wife had in place. Likewise his knowledge on the snakes, which most of us are unaware of for whatever reasons. The training itself only takes a few minutes but plan for about 2 hours to get thru all the dogs to make sure they associate the scent. While I do occasionally use an ecollar, I feel like it’s the equivalent of taking your kid to for a cavity filling: it will have some temporary discomfort but better for their health in the long term. While we’ve not tested this beyond the day of, and we all Hope to never have to use it, I do feel like he’s better equipped to go out into snake country.

This class is organized well and tests your dog to ensure the training is effective. It is worth the peace of mind to have your dog protected.
